Inchicore Chess Club

All the LCU leagues are now under way we our Bodley team staring with a 3 – 2 win against Rathmines yesterday.  Our Heidenfeld team is joint 3^rd after 3 rounds, while our O’Hanalan team got their season back on track after a poor start with a 4.5 – 1.5 win against Finglas.  Our BEA team started with a draw against a strong Dublin side, and in round two they beat Elm Mount 5 – 0.

All four teams have shown a lot of promise for the games ahead.

The last night of the ladder took place on Thursday.  Eammon Connolly managed to hold onto top spot despite a good effort from Richard Walshe to take it from him.  Richard finished in 2nd place.  Unfortunately the person in 3rd place wasn't there last night, and as a result was moved out of 3rd to 4th.  The battle for 3rd place was then between Pat McCabe and Michael Whelan, with Michael winning 3rd place.

A big thank you to all those who played in the ladder over its 6 month run.  It will be started up again after the current league season ends, with a few rule changes that have been learned over the 6 months.

Presentation of prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd will take place on Thursday the 13th of October.

The private members forum has been expanded thanks to Dougie, who has provided many useful links to chess sites he has gathered over the years.

These range from video's of openings and endgame, to tactics/puzzles and free computer chess software and more.

It's a great way to improve all area's of your game or to just pass some time with fun puzzles.

You of course need to be a member of Inchicore Chess Club and logged in to see the private forums.

The club secretary/treasurer need all members contact info.  To make this easy there is now a "Member form" on the left menu.  Filling it in and submiting the form will send the info directly to Eamonn (and a copy to yourself).
